THINGS TO DO IN TRINIDAD

It would be fair to say that the City of Trinidad, CO is undergoing a dramatic transformation. Trinidad is experiencing a great revival of interest in its historic buildings, spaces for art, and natural beauty of the historic town and surrounding area.

Preservationist Dana Crawford is leading the charge with renovation of the historic Fox-West Theatre; Urban Neighborhoods will lead the redevelopment effort to open the theater once again and make it a spectacular multi-purpose arts, education and cultural center. Other initiatives include an $18+ million innovative, state sponsored project called "Space to Create." When complete, three historic Main Street buildings and a new building on Elm Street, will provide 41 live/work spaces for artists and other creatives.

In another initiative, the Trust for Public Lands, in cooperation with Great
Outdoors Colorado and the Nature Conservancy, purchased 19,200 acres of land known as Crazy French Ranch. This will provide public access to Fisher's Peak and ultimately 55 miles of boundless recreational opportunities.

Special Events:

Every September: The ArtoCade Car Art Festival is not to be missed! Trinidad's art car parade and festival is relatively young, but is the second largest in the nation.

In addition to the parade of the most wild and kooky creations you'll ever see, enjoy the Cardango Dance Party Circus, the ArtiBus kids' activities, the Bizarre Car Garage and Maker Space, and much more.  See more here.

If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting Trinidad, come see for yourself what the buzz is about. In addition to the unique events above, Trinidad is also home to a 2.5 mile Riverwalk along the Purgatoire river; historic brick streets and grand Victorian homes; a free trolley ride in town;  great local watering holes; and a growing number of galleries, performances, and other creative events.
